Pearl Harbor Day – Remember Your Southeast Texas Veterans

Pearl Harbor Day December 7, 1941

We have enjoyed interviewing a number of World War II veterans over the years.

Many were volunteers.

What inspired most of them to enlist?

Pearl Harbor.

America was a young nation already used to being independent and safed.

To be attacked so viciously was unthinkable.

Within days boys and young men were leaving farms in Southwest Louisiana, the plants in Port Arthur, and signing up for the Army, Navy, Marines, and the Merchant Marine.
