Recognizing Veterans in Southeast Texas

Golden Triangle Veteran’s Memorials

beaumont veterans - nederland veterans - sour lake veteransIn Southeast Texas, we are fortunate to have the active and influential Southeast Texas Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 292. The members teamed with the Jefferson County Commissioners Court and the Ben J. Rogers Visitor Center to bring Southeast Texas a beautiful memorial commemorating veterans of all generations.

Sculptor Ron Petitt was chosen and commissioned to create a veterans memorial to honor all American veterans. Petitt’s unique design incorporates a 6′ black granite star topped with a black granite column with five one-half life size bronze sculptures that represent both male and female members of the branches of America’s armed forces in their dress uniforms. Located prominently above each figure is a bronze plaque of the service emblem for each branch of service.

The memorial was officially dedicated to Southeast Texas veterans on November 11, 2009. It will be located in perpetuity at the Ben J. Rodgers Regional Visitor’s Center for viewing by Southeast Texas veterans and visitors to our region. The Veterans Memorial project was sponsored by The Southeast Texas Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 292, with support from the Jefferson County Commissioners Court and the Ben J. Rogers Regional Visitors Center.

A number of Southeast Texas individuals and businesses provided financial support for this special project. A listing can be found at the memorial site.SETXseniors would like to thank the Southeast Texas Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 292, the sponsors whose financial support made the project possible, and both the Jefferson County Commisioner’s Court and the Ben J.
